Bush Press Conference
Yes as you can see I am again up at some ungodly hour.

I was just watching Fox cause it was on and they are showing a Live Press Conference with George Bush, and the Afghan President. They have discussed the reduction of poppy crops. The increase of handing control to the Afghans, The abuse of prisoners, the returning of prisoners to Afghanistan, and how they are feeling good about the democracy flourishing in Afghanistan. The story is one of the few opportunities to see something 'Fair and Balanced' on Fox News....

"The worst thing for a terrorists to see is to see a democratic, free society to come ah about, just ask the Afghan President he will be able to tell you...."
Direct Quote George W Bush May 23rd 2005

New Laptop
Yesterday I went and got myself a new laptop, this was a big step for me I haven't owned my own computer in 3 yers. So I thought that it was definitely time for me to get a new one. I got a Compaq Persario 2200 Notebook and have just started setting everything up its amazing the amount of time and effort to set-up a new system etc. But I'm loving having my own computer and having somewhere to keep all my own stuff :P

DBP allegations sent to Police
The allegations against David Benson-Pope by his former students have been forwarded on to the Police. These allegations were first made in the house by Judith Collins and Rodney Hide last Thursday and were refuted by Benson-Pope, Then in the following days students of his have come out on both sides, but the claims have been backed up by students and as they are seen to be assault (the claims at least) they have now, as they should've been, been forwarded to the Police.

Debt Protest
Well I was on the Debt Protest, yesterday. I am of the opinion that the Dom's estimate is the most accurate at about 500, this would be the biggest since 1997, or maybe even 1996. Student Apathy is starting to be overcome as more and more students actually start to care about the issues and decide to get out and do something aboutit. There is no more of this I'm just one person what can I do crap. And when Trevor came out yesterday it suprised us all, until last night I realised he only did it cause it was an election year and he wanted to try and appear to be the bigger man, which he obviously wasn't as he fed us more of his BS. The fact of the matter is the best moment was when he hugged the debt monster, thus the metaphor, Trevor Mallard and his Labour mates Love Student Debt.

DBP - The Kids aren't alright
Tonight 3 News has had a story tonight about David Benson-Pope. It turns out that since he refuted the claims in parliament, at least five ex-students of his have come out of the woodwork to support the claims and give firsthand accounts of the events themselves, this has resulted in DBP looking like a liar and must cause some strife for Helen Clark as she supported his claims.
A new Group Blog for you all. I have come together with Gooner (you will have seen his comments around) and Franki (Fighting for Peace is like Screwing for Virginity) To create this new Blog A New Zealand Paradigm, We will be looking at politics and sports as well.
We would like everyone to come along and check it out leave their comments and we'll see where its going.

Name Suppression and the Net
Well DPF has already blogged on this, but I have a bit more to say. The fact of the matter is court name suppression is sometimes there for a reason, but in some cases is just protecting a well-known name in this case if they have been convicted it is ridiculous anyway. Also when you have the internet as it is and a large section of the community reading it for its news, as well as anonymous posting it is hard to track down who broke the order in the first place, and anyway even if it did work the rumor mill will just be rife instead.

So the thing is that majority of these cases that have been mentioned in the Dom have a well-known name and this was the main reason behind the suppression order, which is a case where I don't think it should apply.

New Poll
My new more interesting and controversial Poll, lets see who can win this one hehe.
Also results of the last Poll who will win the Super 12 a whooping win to the Hurricanes, I like it but not so sure on how trustworthy it is.
No Budget Spend up
Labour has announced that the budget this year will be "predictable" and "cautious"Finance Minister Michael Cullen says he won't be delivering a big-spending election-year bribe. This is completely the opposite of Last election when he gave out so much extra money that it was seen as a direct Bribe to get back n again, I'm just wondering how big he is allowing his surplus to get???

Call for Govt to intervene in Zimbabwe tour rejected
The Government has told the Greens to back off and that they will not intervene to stop the tour of Zimbabwe by the Black Caps. And so they shouldn't the thing is Politics and sport should never be mixed in this sort of thing. The thing that should matter is the safety of the players. The Ban on SA in sport did not help the country at all they just played on. Boycotting games, tours and countries is not right and doesn't affect the government at all it affects the local people and their sports teams thats all.
Where is Winnie
Where has Winston gone, over the last week or so we haven't heard anymore scandals from Peters since the Iraqi scandal although it seems that he thinks every Iraqi was in some way linked to Saddam.
If anyone knows where Winnie has gone I'd love to know
Superstition of the Day

Friday the 13th or Black Friday usually spells plenty of hocus pocus and at least a few shivers down the spine.
Everyone with an ounce of superstition in them has been fending off the black cats, side-stepping the ladders and generally carrying as many good luck charms as possible.
But every day's a good luck day for some sports people.
Cheers to Xtra. to follow is a list of some sporting superstitions around the world, all of them are for real.

It's apparently good luck to spit into your hand before picking up the bat. Dogs don't bring good luck though and in fact if one walks across the diamond before the first pitch things aren't going to go well. If your game's not up to scratch some say bringing your bat to bed and sleeping with it will right the form slump.
Sending your first catch of the day back is regarded as a great way to ensure a productive fishing day. So too is spitting on your bait before casting your line.
It's believed to be bad luck to step on the lines painted on the court and if at all possible players should walk around the outside of the court when switching sides just to keep the powers that be happy.

Well there is just a few examples, if you want more click on the above link
Friday The 13th

Haha I just realised that its Friday the 13th, I don't remember onw of these for a while, supposedly this is a very unlucky day. But for me it almost always seems to be the opposite, unless you count the fact that the internet seems really slow tonight and keeps playing up.

I was born on the 13th of July, so I guess this could explain my luckiness with Friday the 13ths.

I don't know bout anyone else, but I would love to hear if anyone has a really good Fri 13th story to share
Zentiger makes a Valid point
ZenState has this post. It is brilliance IMHO, I think that ZenTiger makes a really good point. Over the last few days I have noticed a huge increase in my traffic through my blog. This is great to start with and the point that is made is that for every comment that is made on a blog there are about 20 visitors who just wander through and read something, these are the ones that will read it and think about what was said. We aren't here to just get the comments, The fact is that it is all about expressing yourself, and if you get readers and comments thats cool if you don't, don't despair. I have had a complete turn-around in the last two days of my blogging, see Disheartening and also Understanding Greg . These posts show what I was thinking less than two days ago, but through some helpful comments I have decided to fight on and keep blogging. I'm also looking at setting up a group blog if anyone is interested.

Benson-Pope Assualts??
I guess Rodney is still in the house as he is yet to Blog about this, but Benson-Pope has been accused of beating children while he was a Teacher before he became a MP.

He denies all the claims that wre brought forward, saying :frankly that claim is Offensive"

In all I saw of it, it almost seems that those are the only words he knows..?

He wants anyone with proof to go to the Police.....but we already know that the Police system doesn't work...see Purpose of 111
If these claims weren't at least slightly backed up then they wouldn't have been brought forward at all.

Labour is just getting worse
Insomnia Part II
well its happening again I have Insomnia and a really bad case of it as anyone who is seeing the times on my posts will know, this is the second time (see Insomnia ) This seems to be a repeating theme with me I cannot sleep at all I have problems regularly...It sucks but I survive and eventually sleep for three days straight oh well..
I can't Believe it???
I can't believe that no talk has even looked like surfacing for a coup within the Labour party, yeah I know its election year. Yeah I know the public love her, who knows why...and yeah I know that some of the Labour party arre so far up her arse its not funny but still not even a slight whisper.

NHL: CBA talks underway again
Hurrah it looks like they may finally start to work somethings out and we may have a season starting in October. NHL had this to say. It seems that they have finally all been able to sit down at a table and talk it over.

For those who don't know whats been going on the last NHL season was cancelled over a dispute between players and GM's over a Collective bargaining agreement which has hurt noone but the fans.
Looking for other Bloggers
Hey all

I've decided I would like to start a group NZ blog, but I can't find anyone around in my group of mates :D
If anyone is interested just leave a comment, It doesn't matter where you are. It doesn't matter who you are just looking for a group who are interested, come one come all.

Updates to Come, Keep your eyes Open.
The purpose of 111???
It seems from the report that has just come out, (hat-tip to Rodney ) that noone knows the true purpose of the 111 system. What the Hell. Isn't it obvious.....Its the National Emergency Hotline, it is the number we call when we are in trouble, It is there to provide help to those who need it. It uses the services of the Police, fire and Ambulance to assist these people. It Should Not Use Taxis. If someone calls 111 they think they are in trouble the Police should respond appropriately. This means sending a POLICE car.......

Hows that for a tui Ad (apologies and hat-tip to sagenz for the Billboard)
Picture, Helen tries to cover her Lies

This is a great comparison....Hat-tip to DPF for the pic.

The comparisons to Nixon during Watergate are immense, but the biggest problem with this current situation is that the general public are not hearing as much...And the whole thing is just being written off as dishonest politicians....

Lets get it out there tell everyone you know
Understanding Greg
Well after my last post I'm beginning to see where Greg is coming from, but in my case its not so much wanting to change peoples views, I just would like to hear what others have to say. And at the moment its just not happening. Yeah the bigger blogs are good, but its the little people that matter, 90% of comments come from small time bloggers, yet 90% of hits are on several big blogs....This doesn't work.

So anyone sorry to seem on a downer, but thats what blogging is for...
Disheartening
Its getting kinda disheartening, I know I have a large number of views of my sight averaging at least 10 a day.....But it is kinda disheartening when not even one leaves a comment....Is it cause I don't have anything to say worth commenting on or is there another reason.

Oh well, I'll try to keep my spirits up

Ciao for now

Dictator anyone???

Helen Clark has just said in the House, as shown on David and Rodney's blogs that "It is up to the
PM's own discretion how to use privileged information..." and that "by definition she can't leak"
This leads to a similar quote from Nixon....'If the president does it, it's not illegal.' in 1977.

I just need to ask isn't this too much power for our PM, she has completely lost the plot. I can't believe it oh my god, Please tell me she will now fail to get away with this one and it will be reported on Big time, so the public find out.....

Goodbye Helen you are the weakest Link

She's Not Photogenic
Ok well I knida thought this could be fun, how photogenic is our PM
I've selected a few shockers, but if anyone has some really bad ones can the please comment and leave the link and I will add them to the post

Yes she has a lot of shocking photos, I can't believe it. Anymore shockers please send them through
HipHop tours now a Party??
The employment agency that funded a $26,000 world hip-hop tour has left the Government a parting gift – $32,000 in bills for a cancelled farewell "bash".

I can't believe it they are getting closed down and they have the cheek to plan a "party" using Government money and then when they cancel it the Taxpayers still have to pay 32,000 to cover cancellation costs. How could they possibly justify this its just not on!!!!!

This scheme has been the biggest waste of Taxpayer money ever, I suppose They had to go out with a BANG
PM Attacks Doone
Prime Minister Helen Clark has called on former police commissioner Peter Doone to accept responsibility for his actions in a 1999 incident that forced his resignation.
Does she not realise that this is not the issue, the issue is the fact that she is lying and releasing info to the media, and then saying it wasn't her.

The Fact of the matter is we don't give two stuffs bout whether he was responsible for forcing his own resignation or not what we actually care about is whether our PM is lying, which obviously she is and this is just another case of her being caught out, Please remember this come election time........Oh yeah nice pic by the way

Virtual Super 12
As the Super 12 nears its end so does the Virtual one, this Year I've had what I thought was a pretty good run, but I am still only 18000th overall this is just not good enough I guess I'll have to pick allof the remaining nine games correctly and then I may just make my original target of the top 10000 we'll see. Anyway Best of Luck to all those who play and we'll see you around.
Just wondering
I was just wondering if anyone knows what has happened to Brendan Jarvis and IncompletePolitics as his blog appears to have dissappeared. If anyone knows can the please comment below. Brendan If you're out there please come back...
Labour Loves Te Wananga
Labour is bailing Te Wananga out of Financial trouble, come on they have problems with finances and then Labour just gives them more money to save them, sorry the place is but a waste of time money and energy.....If it can't keep itself afloat normally....bye bye. Government intervention is not needed.

Mars Polar Lander ??? is it???

An imaging scientist thinks he may have found Nasa's Mars Polar Lander (MPL).

Michael Malin's team has re-examined pictures taken by the orbiting Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft, which searched for the lander in 1999-2000. They say the single dark dot at the centre of the picture may be the Mars lander and that it was intact on impact as the picture shows it all together.

NCEA = No Career, Extra Analysis
Well, Employers are not accepting people on the marks from NCEA, but finding their own ways to test them. This is absolute proof that NCEA doesn't work....No C*** ever achieves. The fact of the matter is noone knows what a credit is worth its ridiculous, even the teachers don't know what they are doing....

This new system has not eventuated into anything good so why don't we just scrap it? well to start with the Labour Government has spent so much money on it they don't want it to fail like all their other schemes...

And then we'd have a few years of Students with School work thats worth nothing

So I still say Dump it cause Bursary and School C were so much better :D
Greg.....We'll miss you
Greg Staphens has decided to quit blogging but will still come on for commenting, I will be really disappointed to see him go. Even though Greg and I don't really agree on anything I'm still gonna miss the discussions and other talks we've had. The fact of the matter is for me that it is interesting to read the different spins that different bloggers can put on things even about the same story.

Greg we will miss you

Vodafone Attacked....?
A huge hoax hit the Vodafone network this morning at the start of their new counter to $10 dollar text, Free text weekends for vodafone to vodafone texts...

The Hoax was along the lines of saying if you sent the text on to 20 people you would recieve $50 credit. This lead to everyone forwardding it on as it wouldn't cost them anything even if it was a hoax this practially, shut down the call centre as they had hundreds upon thousands of enquiries about the message.

The Question is was it a delibirate attempt to bring down the network? or was it just someone trying to play a practical joke..The words that make me ask this are 'You're it pass it on' the line of Telecoms latest video messaging service.

Debt Monster Gets Hung

Musa, The Massey University Students Association have held a Trial and Hung the Debt Monster for crimes against Students and graduates.

They claimed that it will cause a fall in the economy in the future as graduates can't afford a deposit for a house with crippling Debt.

The Transport minister, Pete Hodgson, has attacked Nationals roading claims. Saying firstly that they are dreaming if they think they can have the Waikato expresswy completed within ten years. Waikato District Council mayor Peter Harris said "that if the cash was made available, the plans could be feasible." Then Pete Hodgson goes on to claim "that if all Petrol tax is spent on roading that it will take funding away from hospitals, schools, superannuation or additional support to low and middle-income families." This rubbish (and Pete knows it), firstly last section, I hesitate a guess is talking bout 'Working' for families, the project that is taking away any incentive to get a payrise for families earning between 50 and 60 thousand dollars as if they increase their income from work they get less in total after the removal of their Benefit. This is just not working for families....so scrap it. Secondly what about the money that Labour is currently wasting on Hip Hop tours, Chaperones for frogs etc, this money instead of being funnelled into peoples back pockets for things that don't help the country could be funneled into the sections mentioned by Mr Hodgson, thus creating no shortfall in funding for these important catergories of Health and Education.

So Pete Think before you speak.

Hypocritical???
A former diplomat of Saddam Hussiens oppressive regime who was seeking permanent residency in New Zealand has been asked too leave after information discovered by Winston Peters. The question I have is a) How long before the campaigners of the left fight for him to have the right to stay in New Zealand and b) if they don't isn't that a little hypocritical after they campaigned so hard for Ahmed Zaoui to stay.

I know that they will say that it is under different circumstances as Ahmed was held in a New Zealand detenion centre without charges being laid. The thing is though he was part of an oppressive regime himself in Algeria before he fled following a coup. His reasons for trying to get refugee status were that he would be oppressed if he returned to Algeria, thats a bit two-faced to start with. Then to top it off on his way into the country he destroyed his passport and other ID. This here meant straight away that he was trying to cover himself up. (Whether he was trying to cover up his crimes in Algeria, Belgium, Switzerland or trying to cover-up for something else is up fo debate.

I agree with the left that he should not have been held by the New Zealand Government, but in my opinion he should not have been allowed to stay either he tried to decieve our officials, therefore he should've been gone straight away.

So the ultimate question is what do the left think of this new diplomat accused of oppression......... Should he stay or should he go?
Defence Spending Increase.....Yeah Right
Well well well, the Labour Party is claiming to make an increase in Defence spending in this years budget, but as Rodney states it just won't add up $3 Billion over 10 years, but by the time Inflation and growth are taken into account the percentage of spending in real terms is a hell of a lot less than this, particularly when compared to likely GDP figures which from trends will make Defence Spending actually go down as a percentage of GDP in ten years.
An NBR-Phillips Fox poll indicates 62% of New Zealanders feel they are overtaxed.

This poll shows what a lot of us have believed for a while New Zealanders believe in a lower tax rate, so This should be pushed. The Government is not helping itself by showing a surplus. This is obvious to most the fact is that we are paying too much Tax.
Objectionable Material found

The chief censor has handed down his first ruling over pornography found on the police email system. Bill Hastings has ruled one of the images objectionable and illegal and the officer involved is now likely to face criminal charges. Two other images referred to him have been deemed R18.

"It's one image file that we have found objectionable which means it's effectively banned," Hastings says.

I hope its not the one shown on the screen (tongue in cheek)

Haha so, it seems that there are some illegal images, but really it was to be expected I think the rest of the cops should just get a slap on the wrist thats more than enough.

The Changes Begin
I decided to make May a month of change, I've made a few new changes to my blog as well as adding a poll which I shall change weekly and post the results on my blog. I will also be posting a lot more regularly than previously as I've really decided to get back into it and have some fun.

Accidental Cannabis
Auckland University Claims to Proven a link between cannabis and Accidents. While this is interesting their proof is not exactly trustworthy cause as it says they admitted to cannabis use within the three hours before the survey or accident. The problem with this is are you likely to admit it??? The Control group had a 0.5% admittion rate to cannabis use in the thre hours before, while the accident group had a much higher rate of 5.6% or nine times higher. The problems I do see with this are that they had to admit to cannabis use the chances of admitting at a date sometime after the incident is much higher than the chance of admitting that you had smoked it in the last three hours....And also the time of day that the survey was done would have to be taken into account as at night the rate would've been higher than during the daytime. This is just another case of statistics that might as well be made up....It is kind of ridiculous that so much money is given to these studies and then its not even published on a New Zealand Site but appears on BBC News.
Boy shoots Cousin....Police worried
On Saturday a couple of boys were out with two adults. They were Pighunting and the two adults put down their firearms to head into the bush and get a pig that was holed up. Just after they went in the adults heard a shot, It appears the boy was handling the rifle when it went off shooting his Ten year old cousin. The boy is in a critical, but stable condition (whatever that means, stupid doctors). The Police have not decided whether to charge the adults in relation with this.

Police are worried though that basic gun safety isn't being followed and think that we should be teaching our children in schools alongside road safety. I agree with this in part I think that in Rural schools this is a great idea, but in Urban schools I don't see the point. I know that this is gonna bring out the groups demanding more gun control again, but I disagree I think that tighter gun control isn't the problem here I think the biggest issue is education.

The Solution to most problems these days is Education Not Control
Week One NZ Political Idol
This weekend represented the end of week one of New Zealands Political Idol, and the first elimination. The resounding sound of defeat came knocking at the door of our Prime Minister as the people have spoken and Helen Clark was found wanting....She had more votes than the next three candidates combined!!!

The comment of the week from voters would have to be as follows:

For rodney Hide:
"Get rid of him, he can't sing"

This week I'm looking at the possiblities and I would have to predict the downfall of John Tamihere, particularly after more comments come out, not only does he attack his own party but now he wants to attack others as well, maybe he really does need a rest. This is just wrong personal attacks are no way to win an arguement.

So Come One, Come All and Vote for your Political Idol
